Refreshing summer berry smoothie sure to please your taste buds, made without banana.
It’s the first day of summer, and what better way to celebrate than with a big ol’ smoothie full of berries. Personally, I just polished off two smoothies myself, so I’m feeling pretty satisfied right now.
Since the weather has been getting a bit warmer, I’ve noticed my smoothies have been growing in the blender. I’m either adding more fruit subconsciously to combat dehydration, or I’ve just discovered a type of berry that doubles in size when added to the blender. The jury’s still out on that one, but I’m hoping it’s the latter.
I love the tartness of this smoothie from the berries and cranberry juice. The vanilla yogurt and grapes balance it out nicely, but if you still find it too tart for your liking, adding the optional maple syrup sweetens it perfectly.
The inspiration behind this smoothie comes from a little smoothie shop in downtown Vancouver I visited last winter. I purchased it thinking it would be a little more on the sweeter side, but instead felt like I was sucking on a lemon for 5 minutes straight. Luckily, I remedied that for my version, so no more inside-out faces.
- Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Taste and adjust maple syrup if necessary. Serves 2.
