Ingredients

  •  apples shredded cored peeled
  • teaspoons double-acting baking powder 
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda 
  • 0.3 cup butter chilled
  • cups flour all-purpose
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  • tablespoons milk 
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  • tablespoons sugar white

Directions

  1. Measure flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, and salt into a large bowl.
  2. Cut in butter or margarine until crumbly.
  3. Add shredded apple and milk. Stir to form a soft dough.
  4. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead gently 8 to 10 times. Pat into two 6-inch circles.
  5. Place on greased baking sheet.
  6. Brush tops with milk, and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Score each into 6 pie-shaped wedges.
  7. Bake at 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) for 15 minutes, or until browned and risen.
  8. Serve warm with butter.
