  • 0.3 cup figs dried finely chopped

  • teaspoons granulated sugar 
  • 0.3 teaspoon ground allspice 
  • 0.3 teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  • 0.3 cup cranberries dried sweetened
  • 0.5 cup unprocessed bran 
  • teaspoon vanilla extract 
  • 0.5 cup flour whole-wheat

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 35
  2. Combine first 3 ingredients in a large bowl. Stir in figs, cranberries, and vanilla.
  3. Weigh or lightly spoon flours into dry measuring cups; level with a knife.
  4. Combine flours, bran, and next 3 ingredients in a bowl, stirring with a whisk.
  5. Add flour mixture to egg mixture, stirring just until moist. Gently fold in almonds.
  6. Drop by level 1/4-cup measures 4 inches apart on 2 baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  7. Sprinkle evenly with granulated sugar.
  8. Bake at 350 for 12 minutes or until almost set. Cool 2 minutes on pans.
  9. Remove from pans; cool completely on wire racks.
