The preparation process is straightforward and begins with preheating the oven to 350°F (or 325°F for darker pans). The loaf pan is prepared with shortening or cooking spray and a light dusting of flour. The dry ingredients are combined in a medium bowl, while the wet ingredients, including the buttermilk, oil, lime peel, and lime juice, are mixed in another bowl. These two mixtures are then combined, creating a batter with some lumps remaining.

The batter is spread into the prepared pan and baked until golden brown and a toothpick-clean. While the bread bakes, a simple lime glaze is prepared by mixing lime juice and sugar. This glaze is brushed over the warm bread, adding a delightful shine and extra burst of flavor. The bread is then cooled in the pan before being transferred to a cooling rack to cool completely. Once cooled, it is wrapped in plastic wrap to maintain freshness.

This Buttermilk-Lime Tea Bread is best served the day after baking, allowing the flavors to meld and deepen. It's a perfect addition to your afternoon tea or as a breakfast treat, offering a unique and refreshing twist on traditional quick breads.
