Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup buttermilk 
  • pound beef cube steaks 
  • 0.8 cup flour all-purpose
  • tablespoons flour all-purpose
  • 0.8 teaspoon hot sauce 
  • cup milk 
  • 0.3 teaspoon pepper 
  • 0.3 teaspoon salt 
  • 0.8 teaspoon salt 
  • 0.3 cup vegetable oil divided

Directions

  1. Stir together first 3 ingredients in a shallow dish.
  2. Combine buttermilk and hot sauce in a bowl. Dredge steaks in flour mixture; dip into buttermilk mixture, and dip again in flour mixture.
  3. Heat 1/4 cup oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add steaks, and cook 5 minutes on each side.
  5. Remove from skillet.
  6. Drain steaks on paper towels.
  7. Heat remaining 2 tablespoons oil in skillet; whisk in 2 tablespoons flour, and cook, whisking constantly, 5 minutes or until light golden brown. Gradually whisk in milk; cook, whisking constantly, over medium heat until thickened and bubbly (about 10 minutes). Stir in 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper.
  8. Serve over steaks.
