Ingredients

  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda 
  • 1.3 cups cranberries dried chopped
  • large eggs 
  • cup flour all-purpose
  • cup brown sugar light packed
  • 0.5 teaspoon nutmeg freshly grated
  • 1.5 cups oats 
  • ounces pecans chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  • 10 tablespoons butter unsalted softened
  • teaspoons vanilla 
  • tablespoons milk whole

Directions

  1. Put oven rack in middle position and preheat oven to 350°F. Generously butter a 9-inch square baking pan.
  2. Toast oats in another baking pan, stirring occasionally, until pale golden, about 12 minutes.
  3. Beat butter and sugar with an electric mixer until fluffy. Beat in eggs, milk, and vanilla.
  4. Whisk together flour, nutmeg, salt, and baking soda, then beat into butter mixture until incorporated. Stir in oats, pecans, and cranberries.
  5. Spread in buttered pan.
  6. Bake until golden and a wooden pick inserted comes out clean, 30 to 35 minutes. Cool in pan 20 minutes, then cut into bars.
