Ingredients

  • tablespoons butter divided
  • 1.5 cups chicken broth 
  • 10 servings garnish: chives fresh chopped
  • 0.8 cup cooking wine dry white
  • large eggs lightly beaten
  • tablespoons flour all-purpose
  • teaspoon garlic minced
  • 0.3 teaspoon ground nutmeg 
  • 0.3 cup onion chopped
  • 0.5 cup parmesan cheese freshly grated
  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper freshly ground
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  • 0.5 cup cup heavy whipping cream sour
  • oz swiss cheese shredded

Directions

  1. Place bread cubes in a well-buttered 13- x 9-inch baking dish. Melt 3 Tbsp. butter, and drizzle over bread cubes.
  2. Sprinkle with cheeses.
  3. Melt remaining 3 Tbsp. butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat; add onion and garlic. Saut 2 to 3 minutes or until tender.
  4. Whisk in flour until smooth; cook, whisking constantly, 2 to 3 minutes or until lightly browned.
  5. Whisk in broth and next 4 ingredients until blended. Bring mixture to a boil; reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer, stirring occasionally, 15 minutes or until thickened.
  6. Remove from heat. Stir in sour cream.
  7. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Gradually whisk about one-fourth of hot sour cream mixture into eggs; add egg mixture to remaining sour cream mixture, whisking constantly.
  9. Pour mixture over cheese in baking dish. Cover with plastic wrap, and chill 8 to 24 hours.
  10. Let strata stand at room temperature 1 hour. Preheat oven to 35
  11. Remove plastic wrap, and bake 30 minutes or until set.
  12. Serve immediately.
