Ingredients

  • cup poached berries your favorite
  • loaf sandwich bread white such as texas toast, crusts removed sliced
  • large eggs 
  • teaspoons ground cinnamon 
  • 1.5 cups brown sugar light packed
  • 0.8 cup butter unsalted ()
  • cups milk whole

Equipment

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Melt the butter in a small saucepan set over medium heat.
  3. Add the brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of the cinnamon and stir to make a paste.
  4. Spread the paste in the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch casserole dish.
  5. Lay the bread on top of the paste in two layers.
  6. In a separate bowl, combine the milk, eggs, and remaining 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
  7. Pour the mixture over the bread in the dish.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes, or until top has risen a little and is golden brown. Top with berries when serving.
