  • 0.5 cup butter melted
  • cups buttermilk 
  • servings celery stalks 
  • cup flour all-purpose
  • 1.5 teaspoons garlic powder 
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground pepper black
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground pepper red
  • 0.5 cup hot sauce 
  • tablespoons juice of lemon fresh
  • 0.5 teaspoon mustard dried
  • 1.5 teaspoons oregano dried
  • pints select oysters fresh drained
  • tablespoon paprika 
  • servings ranch dressing 
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  • servings vegetable oil 
  • 0.5 cup cornmeal yellow

Directions

  1. Combine oysters and buttermilk in a large shallow dish or zip-top plastic freezer bag. Cover or seal and chill at least 2 hours.
  2. Drain oysters well.
  3. Combine flour and the next 8 ingredients. Dredge oysters in flour mixture, shaking off excess.
  4. Pour oil to a depth of 1 inch in a Dutch oven; heat to 37
  5. Fry oysters, in batches, 3 minutes or until golden.
  6. Drain on paper towels.
  7. Stir together melted butter, hot sauce, and lemon juice.
  8. Pour butter mixture evenly over hot fried oysters.
  9. Serve oysters with Ranch dressing and celery sticks on the side.
