  • 0.5 cup butter 
  • 0.8 cup buttermilk 
  •  chicken breast whole chopped
  • cups flour all-purpose
  • 0.3 teaspoon pepper 
  • teaspoon salt 
  • 0.3 cup shortening 
  • teaspoon sugar 
  • 1.5 cups water hot

Directions

  1. Place chicken in a lightly greased 1 1/2-quart casserole.
  2. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon salt and pepper. Set aside.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt, sugar, and soda in a mixing bowl, stirring well.
  4. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  5. Add buttermilk, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened.
  6. Turn dough out on a floured surface, and knead lightly 4 or 5 times.
  7. Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness; cut into 1-inch strips.
