Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup flour 
  • tablespoons cornstarch 
  • 0.3 cup candied ginger 
  • 0.5 cup t brown sugar dark packed ()
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  • cup oats 
  • pounds pears firm cored ripe peeled cut into 1/2-inch cubes ( 6 cups) (6 to 7 large)
  • 0.3 teaspoon sea salt fine
  • 0.5 cup sugar 
  • 0.5 cup butter unsalted chilled cut into 1/2-inch cubes (1 stick)
  • 0.5 cup almonds raw whole coarsely chopped

Directions

  1. Whisk first 4 ingredients inmedium bowl.
  2. Add butter. Working quicklyso butter does not soften, rub in withfingertips until moist clumps form. Stirin oats, almonds, and ginger. Chill whilepreparing filling. DO AHEAD: Can be made 1day ahead. Cover and keep chilled.
  3. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  4. Whiskfirst 4 ingredients in large bowl.
  5. Add pears;toss.
  6. Transfer to 13 x 9 x 2-inch oval bakingdish.
  7. Sprinkle topping over pear mixture.
  8. Bake until topping is crisp and goldenbrown and juices are bubbling, about 50minutes.
  9. Serve warm.
