  • cup buttermilk 
  • tablespoons basil fresh chopped
  • tablespoons chives fresh chopped
  • teaspoon pepper freshly ground
  • cups self-rising flour

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 42
  2. Cut butter into flour with a pastry blender or fork until mixture resembles small peas.
  3. Add chives, basil, and freshly ground pepper.
  4. Add buttermilk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead lightly 3 or 4 times. Pat or roll dough to 3/4-inch thickness; cut into squares to form 15 biscuits.
  5. Place on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
  6. Bake 15 minutes or until golden.
