  • 0.5 cup butter 
  • 1.5 cups buttermilk 
  • cup coconut or flaked
  • 3.5 cups confectioners' sugar 
  • ounce cream cheese 
  •  egg whites 
  •  egg yolks 
  • cups flour all-purpose
  • teaspoon vanilla extract 
  • 0.3 cup walnuts chopped
  • cups sugar white

Directions

  1. Cream together 1 cup butter or margarine, egg yolks, and 2 cups white sugar. Alternately mix in flour and buttermilk.
  2. Add baking soda.
  3. Mix in 1 cup walnuts and coconut.
  4. Beat egg whites, and fold into batter.
  5. Pour batter into three greased and floured 9 inch round cake pans.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in a preheated 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) oven.
  7. Combine cream cheese, 1/2 cup butter or margarine, confectioners' sugar, and vanilla extract.
  8. Spread onto cooled cake. Top iced cake with chopped walnuts.
