Ingredients

  • 1.3 cups butter softened
  • 2.5 cups flour all-purpose
  • 0.3 teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  • 0.3 teaspoon ground cloves 
  • teaspoon lemon zest grated
  • 0.5 cup pecans toasted finely chopped
  • cup powdered sugar sifted
  • 36 servings powdered sugar 
  • 0.3 cup raspberry jam seedless
  • 0.3 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer; gradually add 1 cup powdered sugar, beating until light and fluffy.
  2. Combine flour and next 5 ingredients; gradually add to butter mixture, beating just until blended.
  3. Divide dough into 2 equal portions. Cover and chill 1 hour.
  4. Roll each portion to a 1/8-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface; cut with a 3-inch star-shaped cutter.
  5. Cut centers out of half of cookies with a 1 1/2-inch star-shaped cutter.
  6. Place all stars on lightly greased baking sheets.
  7. Bake at 325 for 15 minutes; cool on wire racks.
  8. Spread solid cookies with jam; sprinkle remaining stars with powdered sugar. Top each solid cookie with a hollow star.
