  • 0.3 teaspoon pepper black freshly ground
  • ounce block cheddar cheese reduced-fat
  • 12 ounce baguette french
  • cup dressing fat-free italian
  • ounce block part-skim mozzarella cheese

Directions

  1. Cut cheeses into 1/4-inch-thick slices; place slices in a 13- x 9-inch dish, overlapping slightly.
  2. Combine dressing and pepper; pour over cheese. Cover and chill 8 hours.
  3. Preheat oven to 35
  4. Cut baguette into 1/4-inch-thick slices.
  5. Place on baking sheets.
  6. Bake at 350 for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly toasted, turning once.
  7. Drain cheeses.
  8. Place 1 cheese slice on each bread slice.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil, if desired.
  10. Tip: To make ahead, marinate the cheese overnight in the refrigerator. Toast the bread a day ahead, and store it at room temperature. Assemble the appetizers right before serving.
