Ingredients

  •  eggs beaten
  • pound mushrooms fresh sliced
  • teaspoon garlic minced
  • cup half-and-half 
  • tablespoons butter melted
  • 0.3 teaspoon pepper freshly ground
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  • tablespoons shallots minced
  • 10 ounces sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • ounce bread white
  • 1.5 cups milk whole

Equipment

Directions

  1. Saute shallots and garlic in margarine in a large skillet over medium-high heat until tender.
  2. Add mushrooms, and cook until mushrooms are tender.
  3. Remove from heat, and set aside.
  4. Combine milk, half-and-half, eggs, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
  5. Remove crusts from bread, and reserve for another use.
  6. Cut bread slices into cubes, and add to milk mixture. Stir in mushroom mixture and cheese.
  7. Pour mixture into a greased 13- x 9- x 2-inch baking dish.
  8. Bake, uncovered, at 325 for 50 to 60 minutes or until lightly browned.
  9. Let stand 5 minutes.
  10. Cut into rectangles, and serve immediately.
