Ingredients

  • teaspoon double-acting baking powder 
  • teaspoon baking soda 
  • cups buttermilk 
  • tablespoon canola oil 
  •  eggs beaten
  • servings milk 
  • tablespoon blackstrap molasses 
  • cup oats 
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  • cup flour whole wheat

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, mix eggs and buttermilk.
  2. Add oats and mix well. Stir in molasses and oil.
  3. Combine flour, balking soda, baking powder and salt; stir into the egg mixture. If batter becomes too thick, thin with a little milk.
  4. Pour about 3/4 cup batter onto a greased preheated waffle maker.
  5. Bake according to manufacturer's directions.
  6. To make pancakes: Drop batter by 1/4 cupfuls onto a hot greased griddle. Turn when bubbles begin to form on top of pancake.
