  • pound roasting chickens whole
  • large eggs 
  • cups flour all-purpose
  • cups milk 
  • teaspoons pepper 
  • tablespoons salt 
  • teaspoons salt 
  • cups shortening

  4. Dip 2 chicken pieces in milk mixture.

  7. Melt shortening in a Dutch oven over medium heat; heat to 35
  8. Fry chicken, in batches, 10 minutes on each side or until done and golden brown.
  9. Drain on paper towels.
  10. Sprinkle evenly with 2 teaspoons salt.
