Ingredients

  • teaspoons double-acting baking powder 
  • teaspoon baking soda 
  • cup butter 
  • cup buttermilk 
  •  eggs 
  • 4.5 cups flour all-purpose sifted
  • teaspoon nutmeg 
  • pinch salt 
  • 0.3 cup vanilla extract 
  • cups granulated sugar white

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
  2. Cream the margarine and sugar well.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.
  4. Add the buttermilk.
  5. Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, and baking powder and add to the creamed mixture.
