  • 0.3 cup firmly brown sugar packed
  • 0.5 cup butter 
  • 0.5 cup plus dark
  • 0.8 cup flour all-purpose
  • Dash salt 
  • 0.5 cup sesame seed toasted
  • 0.8 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Combine butter, corn syrup, sugar, and vanilla in a medium saucepan; cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until butter melts.
  2. Add flour and salt; stir until well blended. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  3. Remove from heat, and stir in sesame seeds.
  4. Place pan in a bowl of hot water.
  5. Drop batter by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.
  6. Bake at 375 for 5 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven, and let stand for 1 minute. Shape each wafer around the buttered handle of a wooden spoon. Slide off, and place on a wire rack to cool completely. (
  8. Bake only 5 wafers at a time because they harden quickly after baking.) Repeat procedure with remaining batter. Store wafers in airtight containers.
