  • 2.3 teaspoons double-acting baking powder 
  • cup butter 
  • large eggs 
  • 3.5 cups flour all-purpose
  • 0.5 cup golden raisins 
  • 0.7 cup milk 
  • tablespoon milk 
  • 18 servings raspberry preserves 
  • 0.3 cup sugar 
  • teaspoons sugar 
  • 18 servings whipping cream

Directions

  1. Combine first 3 ingredients in a large bowl; cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture is crumbly. Stir in raisins.
  2. Combine 2/3 cup milk and egg, stirring with a wire whisk. Gradually add milk mixture to flour mixture, stirring with a fork just until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead 4 times.
  3. Roll or pat dough to 1" thickness; cut with a 2" biscuit cutter.
  4. Place dough cutouts on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  5. Brush with 1 tablespoon milk, and sprinkle with 2 teaspoons sugar.
  6. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes or until barely golden.
  7. Let cool slightly on a wire rack.
  8. Serve warm with Raspberry Preserves and whipped cream.
