Ingredients

  • oz rotini pasta uncooked
  • lb ground beef 80% lean (at least )
  • cup onion chopped
  • 15 oz tomato sauce canned
  • 14.5 oz tomatoes diced undrained canned
  • teaspoon garlic powder 
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper black
  • oz colby cheese shredded

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 13x9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish with cooking spray. Cook and drain pasta as directed on package.
  2. Meanwhile, in 12-inch skillet, cook beef and onions over medium-high heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is thoroughly cooked; drain.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce, tomatoes, garlic powder, salt and pepper; heat to a simmer over high heat.
  4. Remove from heat; stir in pasta and 1 cup of the cheese.
  5. Pour into baking dish.
  6. Cover dish with foil.
  7. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until bubbly around edges.
  8. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
  9. Bake uncovered 5 to 7 minutes longer or until cheese is melted.
