Ingredients

  • cup brown sugar packed
  • 0.5 cup butter softened
  •  eggs 
  • teaspoon vanilla 
  • cup apple sauce 
  • cups flour all-purpose
  • teaspoon salt 
  • teaspoon baking soda 
  • teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cloves 
  • cup raisins 
  • 0.5 cup nuts chopped

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom only of loaf pan, 9x5x3 inches.
  2. Beat brown sugar and butter in large bowl with electric mixer on high speed 2 minutes. Beat in egg, vanilla and applesauce. Stir in flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon and cloves. Stir in raisins and nuts.
  3. Pour batter into pan.
  4. Bake 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes. Loosen sides of loaf from pan; remove from pan to wire rack. Cool completely, about 1 hour, before slicing.
