Ingredients

  • pound sweet potatoes and into ( 3 medium)
  • cup apple sauce 
  • 0.3 cup brown sugar packed
  • 0.3 cup nuts chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  • tablespoons butter

Directions

  1. Place sweet potatoes in 3-quart saucepan; add enough water (salted if desired) to cover.
  2. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 30 to 35 minutes or until tender; drain.
  3. Remove skins; cut each sweet potato lengthwise in half.
  4. Heat oven to 375°.
  5. Place sweet potatoes, cut sides up, in ungreased 2-quart casserole or square baking dish, 8x8x2 inches.
  6. Spread applesauce over sweet potatoes.
  7. Mix brown sugar, nuts and cinnamon; sprinkle over applesauce. Dot with butter. Cover and bake about 30 minutes or until hot.
