  • 0.5 teaspoon double-acting baking powder 
  • 11.3 ounces flour all-purpose
  • 0.3 cup water 
  • 0.5 cup milk 1% low-fat cold
  • 24 servings rye flakes 
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  • teaspoon sugar 
  • 0.3 cup shortening chilled

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400.Lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife.
  2. Combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder in a food processor; pulse 4 times.
  3. Add shortening; pulse 6 times or until well blended.
  4. Add milk and 1/3 cup ice water; process 1 1/2 minutes. (Dough should have a shiny appearance.) Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Cover and let stand 5 minutes.Uncover dough; roll to about 1/2-inch thickness.
  5. Cut dough with a 2-inch round cutter. (Reroll scraps.)
  6. Place dough circles on a baking sheet. Pierce tops of dough circles with a fork.
  7. Bake at 400 for 18 minutes or until lightly browned.
