Ingredients

  • servings snack-size almond joy bars 
  • 0.5 teaspoon double-acting baking powder 
  • large eggs 
  • pound brown sugar light
  • cup pecans chopped
  • 0.5 cup shortening 
  • cup butter unsalted
  • 1.5 teaspoon vanilla 
  • cups flour white all-purpose ( Lily works best)
  • cup granulated sugar white
  • cup milk whole

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325F.
  2. In a large bowl cream butter and shortening with electric mixer.
  3. Add sugars and cream again. Turn the mixer on high and run a few minutes. The batter will lighten in color.
  4. Add eggs one at a time and stir until just incorporated.
  5. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with milk and vanilla mixture.
  6. Add nuts.
  7. Spray tube or Bundt pan with

  9. Pour in batter and bake at 325F for 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours, or until top of the cake is set.
