Ingredients

  • cups apples peeled sliced (Rome Beauty, Granny Smith or Greening)
  • 0.3 cup brown sugar packed
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  • 0.3 cup water 
  • cup flour all-purpose
  • 0.7 cup granulated sugar 
  • 0.5 cup butter softened
  • serving whipped cream

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 375°F. Spray bottom and sides of 8-inch square pan with cooking spray.
  2. Spread apples in pan. In small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Sprinkle mixture over apples.
  4. Pour water over apples.
  5. In medium bowl, mix flour, granulated sugar and softened butter, using pastry blender or fork, until crumbly.
  6. Sprinkle over apples.
  7. Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until topping is golden brown and apples are tender when pierced with fork. Cool 10 minutes before serving.
  8. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
