Ingredients

  • cup butter softened
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar 
  • teaspoon vanilla extract 
  • cups flour all-purpose
  • 1.5 cups semi chocolate chips 
  • teaspoons shortening 
  • 0.8 cup walnuts

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, cream butter and confectioners' sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add vanilla. Gradually add flour and mix well.
  3. With lightly floured hands, shape tablespoonfuls into 2-in. logs.
  4. Place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  5. Bake at 350° for 9-11 minutes or until edges and bottom are lightly browned. Cool for 2-3 minutes before removing to wire racks.
  6. In a microwave, melt chocolate chips and shortening; stir until smooth.
  7. Drizzle chocolate over half of the cookies. Dip one end of remaining cookies into chocolate; allow excess to drip off.
  8. Sprinkle with walnuts.
  9. Place on waxed paper; let stand until set.
