  • 0.8 cup cornmeal 
  • Tbsp flour 
  • 0.3 tsp ground pepper red (cayenne)
  • servings oil 
  • lb okra fresh trimmed
  • 0.8 cup panko bread crumbs 
  • Tbsp parmesan cheese grated kraft

Equipment

  • paper towels
  • slotted spoon

Directions

  1. Cut okra into 1/4-inch-thick slices; place in shallow dish.
  2. Sprinkle lightly with water.
  3. Combine all remaining ingredients except oil in shallow dish.
  4. Add okra, in small batches; toss until evenly coated with crumb mixture.
  5. Heat 1-1/2 inches of oil to 375F in large deep skillet on medium heat.
  6. Add okra, in batches; cook 3 to 4 min. or until golden brown, turning after 2 min.
  7. Remove from oil with slotted spoon; drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve warm.
