  • 12 ounces crab meat fresh dry picked over for bits of shell and patted
  • tablespoons parsley fresh chopped
  •  garlic clove minced
  • 0.3 teaspoon hot sauce 
  • servings kosher salt and pepper freshly ground
  • teaspoons juice of lemon fresh
  • ounces cream cheese room temperature reduced-fat (Neufchatel)
  • 0.3 cup cup heavy whipping cream sour reduced-fat
  •  scallions thinly sliced
  • servings round buttery crackers whole-wheat for serving, optional

Directions

  1. Stir together the cream cheese, sour cream, hot sauce, crab boil spice, and garlic in a medium saucepan until smooth; season, to taste, with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the cream cheese mixture over medium-low heat until warm, stirring constantly, 2 to 3 minutes. Fold in the crab, scallions, parsley and lemon juice and warm until heated through, about 1 minute more.
  3. Serve immediately.
