Ingredients

  • 0.8 cup breadcrumbs fresh
  • 0.3 teaspoon pepper red crushed
  • 0.3 cup currants dried
  • large eggs 
  • tablespoons mint leaves fresh chopped
  •  garlic clove minced
  • 0.3 teaspoon ground allspice 
  • 0.3 teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cumin 
  • 0.5 pound lamb 
  • 0.5 pound pd of ground turkey 
  • teaspoon lemon zest grated
  • tablespoon olive oil 
  • 0.3 cup onion grated drained
  • 24 ounce pasta sauce red

Directions

  1. Combine first 9 ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. Add lamb, turkey, and breadcrumbs; stir well. Shape into 28 (1-inch) meatballs.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add oil to pan; swirl to coat.
  5. Add meatballs to pan. Cook 2 minutes on each side or until browned.
  6. Transfer meatballs to a 4-quart electric slow cooker coated with cooking spray.
  7. While meatballs cook, combine pasta sauce and lemon rind in a medium bowl.
  8. Pour sauce over meatballs. Cover and cook on HIGH for 2 hours or until meatballs are done.
