Ingredients
- 0.3 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup brown sugar packed
- 0.5 cup butter
- 1.5 cups blackstrap molasses dark
- 4.5 cups flour all-purpose
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 0.5 teaspoon ground cloves
- 0.3 teaspoon ground ginger
- 0.3 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 cup shortening
- 0.5 teaspoon distilled vinegar white

Directions
- Mix together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves and ginger.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the brown sugar, butter and shortening.
- Add to the flour mixture and mix well.
- Add molasses and vinegar.
- Mix well.
- Cover and chill dough overnight.
- Roll out a small amount of dough to 1/8 (or less) inch thick.
- Cut into desired shapes.
- Bake at 350 degrees F (180 degrees C) for 10 minutes or until light brown.
