  • teaspoons double-acting baking powder 
  • 0.3 teaspoon pepper black freshly ground
  • tablespoons butter chilled cut into small pieces
  • ounces flour all-purpose
  • pinch ground pepper red
  • 0.3 cup buttermilk low-fat divided
  • tablespoons parmesan cheese fresh grated
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  • 1.5 tablespoons sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 40
  2. Lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife.
  3. Combine flour and next 5 ingredients (through red pepper) in a bowl; cut in butter with a pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  4. Add 1/3 cup buttermilk and Parmesan cheese, and stir just until moist.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a heavily floured surface; knead lightly 5 times.
  6. Roll dough to a 1/2-inch thickness; cut with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter.
  7. Place biscuits on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray.
  8. Brush with remaining 1 tablespoon buttermilk.
  9. Bake at 400 for 15 minutes or until golden.
