  • tablespoons butter 
  • 14.5 oz canned tomatoes crushed canned
  • tablespoon basil fresh chopped
  • tablespoon parsley fresh chopped
  •  garlic cloves minced
  • tablespoons olive oil 
  • medium onion diced
  • 0.8 cup parmesan cheese freshly grated
  • servings cracked pepper black to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper dried red crushed
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  • cup vodka 
  • cup whipping cream 
  • pound ziti pasta uncooked

Directions

  1. Prepare pasta according to package directions.
  2. Drain and set aside.
  3. Melt butter with oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat; add onion and garlic, and saut 5 minutes.
  4. Add red pepper.
  5. Remove from heat; stir in vodka. Return to heat; simmer 5 minutes.
  6. Stir in tomatoes, parsley, and basil; simmer 5 minutes.
  7. Stir in cream and salt; simmer, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes. Stir in pasta; cook 2 more minutes.
  8. Sprinkle with cheese and pepper, and toss.
  9. Serve immediately.
  10. *Chicken broth may be substituted.
