Ingredients

  • 4.5 teaspoons yeast dry
  • 0.5 cup water (110° to 115°)
  • cups milk 2% (110° to 115°)
  • tablespoons shortening 
  • large eggs room temperature
  • 0.3 cup sugar 
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt 
  • cups flour all-purpose

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
  2. Add the milk, shortening, eggs, sugar, salt and 3 cups flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  3. Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes (dough will be sticky).
  4. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  5. Punch dough down. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide into 24 pieces. Shape each into a roll.
  6. Place 2 in. apart on greased baking sheets. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.
  7. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Remove to wire racks.
