Ingredients

  • 0.3 cup flour all-purpose
  •  garlic bulb 
  • pounds new potatoes cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices
  • ounce container parmesan cheese divided grated
  • ounce parmesan cheese divided grated
  • teaspoons pepper divided freshly ground
  • teaspoons salt divided
  • quart whipping cream

  • aluminum foil

Directions

  1. Cut off and discard pointed tip of garlic bulb, place bulb on a piece of aluminum foil. Fold foil to seal.
  2. Bake at 400 for 1 hour. Cool. Squeeze pulp into a large bowl; stir in whipping cream.
  3. Whisk in flour. Set aside.
  4. Layer half of potatoes in a lightly greased 13- x 9-inch baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon pepper, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, and half of cheese. Repeat procedure with remaining potatoes, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  6. Place baking dish on a jellyroll pan.
  7. Pour whipping cream mixture over potatoes.
  8. Bake, covered, at 400 for 30 minutes.
  9. Remove cover; sprinkle with remaining half of cheese.
  10. Bake 30 more minutes or until potatoes are tender.
  11. Let stand 15 minutes before serving.
