Ingredients

  • tablespoon water 
  • teaspoon almond extract 
  • cups baking apples are apples that have a sweet-tart balance and hold their shape when unpeeled sliced (6 medium)
  • tablespoons flour all-purpose
  • tablespoons brown sugar packed
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  • tablespoons butter firm
  • 0.5 cup round buttery crackers crushed
  • tablespoons pecans chopped
  • 0.5 cup yogurt plain fat-free
  • teaspoon granulated sugar 
  • 0.1 teaspoon almond extract

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 375°F. Spray 1 1/2-quart casserole with cooking spray. In small bowl, mix water and 1 teaspoon almond extract. In casserole, toss with apples.
  2. In small bowl, mix flour, brown sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Cut in butter, using pastry blender (or pulling 2 table knives through ingredients in opposite directions), until crumbly. Stir in crackers and pecans.
  4. Sprinkle over apples.
  5. Bake uncovered about 30 minutes or until topping is golden brown and apples are tender.
  6. In small bowl, mix topping ingredients until well blended.
  7. Serve warm apple crisp with topping.
