Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup butter 
  • cup confectioners' sugar 
  • 1.7 cups flour all-purpose
  • 0.7 cup ground blanched almonds 
  • teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  • 0.3 teaspoon salt 
  • 0.5 cup shortening 
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Mix together shortening, butter and almonds. Sift in flour and salt.
  2. Add vanilla.
  3. Chill dough until firm.
  4. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (170 degrees C).
  5. Roll dough with hands into 3 inch lengths, pencil thick. Form into crescents on ungreased baking sheet.
  6. Bake until just slightly brown -- about 16 minutes. Cool on pan
  7. While still slightly warm, carefully dip in a mixture of confectioner's sugar and cinnamon. These are extremely fragile cookies -- handle with care!
