Ingredients

  • 3 slices bacon diced
  • 2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar 
  • 0.3 teaspoon pepper black freshly ground
  • 0.3 cup less-sodium chicken broth fat-free
  • 2  garlic cloves minced
  • 0.3 teaspoon salt 
  • 0.8 pound swiss chard trimmed
  • 0.3 cup vidalia sweet chopped

Directions

  1. Thinly slice chard; coarsely chop leaves. Toss together; set aside.
  2. Cook bacon in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat for 3 minutes.
  3. Add garlic and onion; cook 2 minutes or until tender, stirring frequently.
  4. Add 1/2 of chard and all of broth to pan. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 2 minutes or until chard wilts. Repeat procedure with remaining chard.
  5. Simmer, uncovered, 5 minutes or until chard is tender, stirring occasionally. Stir in vinegar, salt, and pepper. Cook until thoroughly heated.
