  • cup basil leaves coarsely chopped
  • 28 ounce canned tomatoes crushed canned
  • pound pasta like spaghetti cooked
  • cloves garlic minced
  • medium bell pepper diced green
  • 0.5 teaspoon penzey's southwest seasoning italian
  • ounce mushrooms sliced
  • teaspoons olive oil 
  • medium onion chopped
  • 13.5 ounce rope sausage smoked split sliced johnsonville®
  • 0.5 teaspoon lawry's seasoned salt 
  • cup cheddar cheese shredded divided
  • 0.8 cup water

Directions

  1. In a Dutch oven, over medium heat, cook sausage, onion and garlic in oil until onions are tender.
  2. Add green pepper, mushrooms, salt and seasoning; continue to cook for 4 minutes. Stir in tomatoes, water and basil. Simmer, uncovered, for 20-25 minutes.
  3. Add prepared spaghetti to sauce; toss to coat evenly.
  4. Spoon one-half of the pasta mixture into a greased 2-1/2 quart baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle with one-half of the cheese. Top with remaining pasta mixture and cheese.
  6. Bake, covered, at 375 degrees F for 20 to 25 minutes.
  7. Remove cover, bake 5 minutes longer.
  8. Serve.
