  • slices beer bread 
  • tablespoon butter room temperature ()
  • handful cheddar cheese grated ()
  • teaspoons grainy mustard 
  • tablespoon oil 
  • large onion thinly sliced ()
  • serving salt and pepper to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon thyme leaves chopped ()
  • tablespoons water 
  • teaspoon worcestershire sauce for vegetarian (a vegetarian one )
