  • cups black-eyed peas fresh
  • tablespoons butter 
  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper 
  • tablespoon pepper vinegar hot (such as Crystal)
  • cups onion red finely chopped
  • pound swiss chard coarsely chopped
  • cups vegetable broth 
  • cups water

Directions

  1. Combine first 3 ingredients in a Dutch oven; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, partially covered, 30 minutes or until tender.
  2. Remove from heat.
  3. Heat butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add onion; saut 5 minutes.
  5. Add Swiss chard and pepper. Saut 3 minutes or until wilted; stir in vinegar.
  6. Add onion mixture to peas; stir.
