Ingredients

  • 16 ounce blueberries frozen thawed
  • cups brandy 
  • inch cinnamon 
  •  nutmeg whole cut in half
  • 1.5 cups sugar 
  • 0.5 cup water 

Equipment

  • sieve
  • cheesecloth

Directions

  1. Combine first 6 ingredients in a medium saucepan; cook over medium-high heat until sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat, and let cool.
  3. Pour blueberry mixture into a 2-quart jar.
  4. Add brandy; stir well. Cover tightly, and store in a dark place at room temperature at least 2 weeks. Shake jar gently once daily.
  5. Pour mixture through a wire-mesh strainer lined with 2 layers of cheesecloth into jars, discarding solids. Cover tightly. Store at room temperature.
  6. Use in beverages, or serve with apple wedges or gingersnaps.
