Ingredients

  • lb brisket 
  • 29 oz beef broth low-sodium canned
  •  garlic clove chopped
  • 0.3 cup juice of lemon 
  • cup soy sauce low-sodium
  • 16 servings parsley fresh

Equipment

  • aluminum foil
  • cutting board

Directions

  1. Stir together first 4 ingredients and, if desired, liquid smoke in a large roasting pan.
  2. Place brisket in pan, fat side up. Spoon liquid over brisket. Cover tightly with aluminum foil, and chill 24 hours.
  3. Preheat oven to 30
  4. Bake brisket, covered, 4 to 4 1/2 hours or until fork-tender. Uncover and let stand 20 minutes.
  5. Transfer brisket to a cutting board. Trim fat from brisket.
  6. Cut brisket across the grain into thin slices. (Or cut brisket into large pieces, and shred with two forks.)
  7. Pour pan drippings through a wire-mesh strainer, discarding solids.
  8. Serve brisket with drippings.
  9. Garnish, if desired.
