Ingredients

  •  apples peeled sliced
  • slices bacon diced
  • 0.3 teaspoon garlic minced
  • large onion thinly sliced
  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper 
  • medium size cabbage red thinly sliced
  • 0.8 cup red wine 
  • 0.3 cup red wine vinegar 
  • teaspoon salt 
  • 0.3 cup sugar

Directions

  1. Toss together first 4 ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. Cook bacon in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat 10 minutes or until crisp.
  3. Add onion, and saut 5 minutes or until tender. Stir in cabbage mixture, apples, red wine, sugar, and minced garlic. Cover, reduce heat to medium, and simmer 30 to 35 minutes.
