  • tablespoon butter 
  • medium onion sliced
  • cup water 
  • tablespoon vegetable oil 
  • cups bread flour 
  • tablespoons sugar 
  • teaspoon salt 
  • 1.3 teaspoons yeast dry quick

Directions

  1. In 10-inch skillet, melt butter over medium-low heat. Cook onions in butter 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onions are brown and caramelized; remove from heat.
  2. Measure carefully, placing all ingredients except onions in bread machine pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer.
  3. Add 1/2 cup of the onions at the Raisin/Nut signal or 5 to 10 minutes before last kneading cycle ends. (Reserve any remaining onions for another use.)
  4. Select Basic/White cycle. Use Medium or Light crust color. Do not use delay cycle.
  5. Remove baked bread from pan; cool on cooling rack.
