  • servings cheddar shredded for topping
  • servings cup heavy whipping cream sour
  • tablespoon sugar 
  • small tomatoes chopped
  • cups water

Directions

  1. Watch how to make this recipe.
  2. Bring 2 cups of salted water to a boil. Slowly whisk in 1/2 cup quick grits, reduce heat and bring to a boil.
  3. Add the sugar and butter and salt and pepper, to taste. Reduce the heat and simmer until cooked.
  4. Add 4 eggs to a medium saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring up to a rapid boil then turn off heat and let the eggs sit for 15 minutes.
  5. Let cool then peel and chop.
  6. Place sausage patties on a preheated greased skillet over medium heat. Cook 3 to 4 minutes per side until done. Chop coarsely.
  7. Spoon grits into trifle bowls.
  8. Sprinkle in cheese.
  9. Add chopped hard boiled eggs. Spoon chopped sausage on top and add the tomatoes on top of the sausage.
  10. Garnish with a dollop of sour cream and chopped chives.
