Ingredients

  • tablespoons butter 
  • tablespoons chives fresh chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper divided freshly ground
  • 10 servings potato chips 
  • teaspoon salt divided
  • 16 oz cup heavy whipping cream sour
  • medium size onions yellow chopped

Directions

  1. Melt butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat; add onions, and cook, stirring occasionally, 20 minutes or until browned and tender.
  2. Sprinkle with 1/2 tsp. salt and 1/4 tsp. pepper.
  3. Remove from heat, and let stand 30 minutes.
  4. Stir together onions, sour cream, and chives in a medium bowl. Stir in remaining 1/2 tsp. salt and remaining 1/4 tsp. pepper. Cover and chill 30 minutes or up to 2 days.
  5. Serve with potato chips.
  6. Note: Light sour cream may be substituted.
