Perfect for lunch, dinner, or an elegant soirée, this gluten-free recipe serves six, making it an ideal choice for sharing with family and friends. In just 30 minutes, you can create a sumptuous centerpiece that invites everyone to gather around the pot and dip into a world of flavor.

The secret to this fondue's irresistible creaminess lies in the combination of Emmental and Gruyère cheese, brought together with a splash of dry white wine. The hint of garlic adds a fragrant note, while the optional kirsch (cherry brandy) introduces a delightful depth of flavor. Whether you choose to serve it with traditional French bread or vibrant fruits like apples and pears, this dish caters to every palate.

As the cheese bubbles and thickens, the atmosphere transforms into one of warmth and joy, where conversation flows as freely as the fondue itself. Pair it with your favorite dry white wine, German lager, or even a refreshing farmhouse cider for a dining experience that promises to entertain and delight. Get ready to dip, savor, and enjoy the rich flavors of this exquisite Cheese Fondue!

Ingredients

  • tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1.5 cups cooking wine dry white
  • cups emmental cheese grated
  •  garlic clove halved
  • cups gruyere cheese grated
  • teaspoons kirsch liqueur

Directions

  1. Rub inside of a 4-quart heavy pot with cut sides of garlic, then discard garlic.
  2. Add wine to pot and bring just to a simmer over moderate heat.
  3. Stir together cornstarch and kirsch (if using; otherwise, use water or wine) in a cup.
  4. Gradually add cheese to pot and cook, stirring constantly in a zigzag pattern (not a circular motion) to prevent cheese from balling up, until cheese is just melted and creamy (do not let boil). Stir cornstarch mixture again and stir into fondue. Bring fondue to a simmer and cook, stirring, until thickened, 5 to 8 minutes.
