Ingredients

  • pound asparagus fresh
  • tablespoons sesame oil dark
  • 1.5 tablespoons ginger fresh minced
  •  garlic clove minced
  • 0.8 cup rice vinegar 
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt 
  • teaspoon soya sauce 
  • tablespoons sugar 
  • tablespoons vegetable oil

Directions

  1. Bring vinegar and ginger to a boil in a small saucepan; boil 7 minutes or until liquid is reduced by half.
  2. Remove from heat, and stir in sugar; set aside.
  3. Snap off tough ends of asparagus.
  4. Place asparagus and water to cover in a large skillet, and bring to a boil; remove from heat, and drain.
  5. Plunge asparagus into ice water to stop the cooking process; drain. Arrange asparagus spears on a serving platter.
  6. Stir together garlic and next 4 ingredients.
  7. Drizzle over asparagus; cover and chill 30 minutes.
  8. Drizzle vinegar mixture over asparagus; cover and chill 1 hour.
